Luke 6:41 “Taking the five loaves and two fish and looking up to heaven, He (Jesus) gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then He gave them to his disciples…the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces of bread and fish. The number of the men who had eaten was five thousand.”
We sing a song at church with these lyrics: “break my heart for what breaks Yours…everything I have is Yours.”
Just like the loaves of bread that Jesus broke in order to reach the”lost” crowd gathered around Him, may we offer ourselves to be broken by the Master and used for His Kingdom.
I can hear the arguments in the minds of people today if this event took place in our contemporary setting:
- Are you kidding me…this is a ridiculous idea! There’s no way It can work!
- Someone’s going to be cheated—you wait and see!
- Look! That’s not fair…someone’s going to get more!
- My heart is pounding so hard because the Master wants to use my lunch…that my mother packed for me!
May we realize everything we have belongs to the LORD and only when we give it away, do we find what we truly need…HIM. “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart.” Psalm 51:17
