I’m still reeling from Momentum! Anyone else? Thinking about the event reminded me of the story in Luke 9 about Jesus taking Peter, James, and John up on the mountain to pray.
“As He was praying, the appearance of His face changed, and His clothes became dazzling white. Suddenly, two men were talking with Him—Moses and Elijah. They appeared in glory and were speaking of His death, which He was about to accomplish in Jerusalem. Peter and those with him were in a deep sleep, and when they became full awake, they saw His glory and two men who were standing with Him. As the two men were departing from Him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it’s good for us to be here! Let us make three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah” – not knowing what he said.” Luke 9:28-33
I don’t blame Peter! That is exactly how I felt after Sunday night! We had a mountain-top experience and I just wanted to stay there with all of you!
If you continue to read the story in Luke, we find out that the very next day when they came down from the mountain, they were met by a demon-possessed man. Welcome down from the mountaintop experience!
I would bet that some of you left Momentum on Sunday evening and immediately hit opposition. If you didn’t then, chances are you have by now! What the enemy wants us to do is shrink back. But we must not! Remember, “Greater is He who is in us than He who is in the world!”
It’s time to GO! There are people all around us who need to hear the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. David Nasser said Sunday morning, “You know you’re wrecked by the Gospel if you’re wrecked for the Gospel.” I’m wrecked! What about you?
