“The tangible, the concrete, the material, so captivate us that we fail to look beyond them. We become the child who just can’t get past the candy the Easter bunny left him long enough to really appreciate the impact of the true Easter message: that God conquered death.
Yet in the midst of all the comfortable and familiar, there is a gnawing, unsettled feeling reminding us that there is more. Where does that feeling come from? From God.
“He has…set eternity in (our) hearts” (Ecclesiastes 3:11). C.S. Lewis described how that innate sense of eternity prompts our desires:
“All the things that have ever deeply possessed your soul have been but hints of (heaven)…tantalizing glimpses, promises never quite fulfilled, echoes that died away just as they caught your ear….If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world….Probably earthly pleasures were never meant to satisfy it, but only to arouse it, to suggest the real thing.”
An excerpt from “Living in Light of Eternity” by Stacy and Paula Rinehart
Remember today that our purpose for living is to bring glory to God. ALL is from Him. ALL is for Him. ALL is through Him. He is the reason we move and breathe. He is what we are meant to live for!
